Artist
John Mundell R.A.
1818 - 1875
John Mundell was the pseudonym for John James Wilson, the son of John H (Jock) Wilson, who painted marine and
landscape scenes.
John James refused to paint marine pictures until just before the death of his father, in 1855, instead concentrating on
landscapes. After his fathers death, he painted marine subjects, prolifically.
He exhibited in excess of 500 paintings between 1831 and 1875, including 55 at the Royal Academy.
